Syed Nazir Ali Zaidi studied at the Mayo School of Art in 1904 and went to Allahbad where he started his portrait painting and photography studio.
In 1928, Syed Mohammed Ali Zaidi, the eldest of the second generation migrated back to Lahore and setup his studio on the Mall where it still stands and is a proud landmark . The studio in it’s seven decades of existence has served the people of the sub-continent and has created more than 300000 portraits. The prized portraits being that of Quaid e Azam Mohammed Ali Jinnah who came to the studio for his sitting..
Shahid Zaidi took over the studio from his father in 1962 and has run it successfully ever since. He has seen many changes in his 50 plus years of working from color portraiture in the studio, to film making and now going digital. He is joined by his son Usman Zaidi who is a qualified film maker.
